Central Oregon Blogger Meet-up

Central Oregon Blogger Meet-up
Wednesday, April 30, 5:30ish at the Summit, Downtown Bend
To RSVP visit this event's page on Upcoming and click "I'm Going!", leave a comment, or email me at jenblackledge at gmail.com

The first blogger meetup was a big success! Since then there's been a lot of growth and new folks have popped up in our local "blogosphere". Meetups like this are a nice chance for all of us to gather, unwind, and put some faces together with the blogs.

This event is primarily intended for bloggers who wish to meet other bloggers. If you don't have a blog, then this may not be the get-together for you. So, if you just can't stand not being there and don't already have a blog... what are you waiting for?!

You might think I'm crazy

The past 7 days have been crazy -- btw work, having pre-term contractions, friends moving away. Staying positive at first was really hard but yesterday someone at work said "you have a spring in your step."

Here is my motto for the week "you can make lemons out of lemonade." That's what I'm doing. I might be exhausted but damn it, I like lemonade. It probably doesn't help that my doctor told me my baby is going to be 9 lbs. FABULOUS.

My friend moved away but at the same time, I'm working on strengthening relationships with those around me. My boss is no longer my boss but my friend. Work is stressful, but people are helping out. My baby is moving around like crazy though last week I got dehydrated and pre-term contractions started. My little boy will be here in 5-7 weeks. The doctor says I'm measuring big and is thinking about my options. I will know more next week.

Hell, this is going to be a good summer. I'll be off and I just bought my Wilco tickets!

Now to find a babysitter. This has made my day, my month but not my year.

And I have one request, Jeff Tweedy -- please don't wear that white rose suit.

Overheard in my house

Me: So the OBGYN says I have to start taking Zantac twice a day.
Brian: Why? To calm you down?
Me: What? Did you think I said Xanax?
Brian: Yea, but isn't Zantac the same thing?
Me: NO, Zantac is for acid reflux.
Brian: oh.

For a relaxing time ...

I have been home a few days but I haven’t had free time to really write up something about our weekend in Baker City. Joey, if you’re reading this, you’re not allowed vacation no more. I realize I don’t have the power from keeping you from going on vacation but it’s worth a shot, right?

Anyway, I had an OB/GYN appointment on Thursday in which I was told that if my blood pressure didn’t go down, that I wasn’t going anywhere but luckily it did and I was permitted to sit in a car for the 4.5 hour drive over 5 mountain passes along Hwy 26/7 to lovely Baker City. What I’m about to say is not a knock on Baker City but really there isn’t much to do in Baker City in the winter besides ski and in my present situation (with child), I’m strictly prohibited to ski. Summer time is a whole different story -- there is hiking, fishing, camping, boating. Baker City is just a place to go and relax along with eating some of the best pizza in Oregon at Paizano's Pizza. Yes, I’m biased since I personally know the owners but seriously, they make a killer Thai pizza along with the best breadsticks in the universe. We also go to sample the BBQ chicken Stromboli, Dragon’s Breath Stromboli, roasted garlic & gorgonzola, toasted ravioli, spinach salad (which I tried to re-create on Monday), greek salad and Kina’s favorite salad.

So the weekend was spent getting much needed sleep, seeing our awesome, super cool friends and eating some awesome food. The highlight of the trip was trying to play truth or date jenga and when my husband had to say something romantic to someone, he turned to Kina’s dog Max with wooing words.

So, if you’re going to Baker City, it’s worth the stop at Paizano's Pizza. Say hi to Kina and Stephen for us!

Accomplished under 40

Wow, yes, I received word this morning that I am one of 40 people to receive this award in the Bend community. The award's motto is "Impressive Careers. Social & Philanthropic Commitment.Accomplished Leaders in Central Oregon’s varied business communities."

I'm stunned and shocked and don't know what to really say but WOW.
